Old Town — Imanta — Jurmala
/ For those who are ready for adventure /
The start of the cycling route is the Old Town. From there – over the cable-stayed bridge – cross the other side of the Daugava. After the Olimpia Shopping Centre, turn right.
Continue driving along the streets: Daugavgrīvas iela — Kliņģeru iela — Kuldīgas iela — Slokas iela — Kandavas iela. Kandavas Street is located next to the Botanical Garden of the University of Latvia – make a stop here to admire the flowering of rhododendrons (and more).

Then follow the Jurmala lane (Jūrmalas gatve) and turn left on the Imanta second line (Imantas 2. līnija). You can see on the map that the bike path from Imanta to Jurmala runs along the railway, but there is no need to worry about the danger or noise of trains.
Length of the route: around 20 km
Travel time: to Imanta – 40 minutes, to Jurmala – a little more than an hour
Center – Mežaparks
/ For those who want to admire the green area /
The bike path starts from the intersection of Hanzas iela and Skanstes iela and goes along Skanstes iela – Upes iela – Miera iela – Gaujas iela – Ķīšezera iela. Then turn left on Kokneses prospekts and head towards Meža prospekts.
At this point you find yourself in Mežaparks – a huge green area with walkways, sports grounds and children’s playgrounds. Also the Riga Zoo is in Mežaparks, where you can not only observe the animals, but also have a picnic.
Length of the route: 6.5 km
Travel time: 30 minutes

Center — Berģi
/ For those who want to see the life of the city /
The route starts in Old Riga, at the intersection of Smilšu iela and Z.A. Meierovica Bulvāris, then goes through the Bastion Park on Reimersa iela, and then through the Esplanade Park overlooking Skolas iela.
The next turn you need to take is to the left on Stabu iela. Go to Krišjāņa Valdemāra iela — Zirņu iela — Senču iela — Brīvības iela and turn right on Šmeiļa iela and then on Sergeja Eizenšteina iela. You will find yourself in the Riga Motor Museum. This automobile museum is in the TOP 30 best technical museums in the world and in the TOP 5 in Europe.
Returning to Brīvības iela, go straight — you will see the Ethnographic open air museum. Check it out if you are curious about how the country lived in the time of the 16th – 19th centuries. Entire residential and economic buildings of peasants, fishermen and artisans were transported here from all over Latvia.

Return to Brīvības iela, a little later turn right to Berģu iela, and then left to Suitu iela and here you are on the spot — in the Berģi area.
The main part of this cycling route passes through a densely populated and active area of the city, so choose this route if you want to observe the life of citizens.
Length of the route: 15 km
Travel time: 1 hour

Where to rent bicycles?
You can rent a bike at any time of the day, paying for trips through the mobile application. Bikes should be left at the base stations near Lidl stores or in the “green zone” indicated on the map in the app and on the Nextbike website.

Important:
If you don’t have a driver’s license to drive a mechanical vehicle (car), then to drive a bicycle you need to own a special driver’s license.
Rights can be obtained from the age of 10 in any department of the Directorate of Road Safety (CSDD) or in the Riga Motor Museum. Passing the exam and getting the cycling rights can be absolutely free.
