Burzma food hall in Galerija Centrs

Place: Vecrīga

Height: 25 meters

Burzma is a new place on the gastronomic map of Riga. It opened in February 2023 and has already made a name for itself among residents and guests of the city. More than a dozen different restaurants and bars are located here in one big space: you can try everything from pizza and pasta to Mexican and Asian food, as well as vegetarian dishes, national treats of Latvia and decent cocktails.

What to see: romantic tiled roofs and towers of Vecrīga.

Visiting: Sunday–Wednesday from 10:00 to 21:00, Thursday–Saturday from 10:00 to 23:00.

Price: access to the terrace is free

Panorama Riga observation deck in the building of the Latvian Academy of Sciences

Location: Maskavas Forštate

Height: 65 meters

This 21-story tower in the style of Soviet neoclassicism was opened in 1958. It is one of the few such towers built outside Moscow. On the open area of the 17th floor there is an observation deck.

What to see: the Vecrīga, Central Market, Maskavas Forštate, the Daugava River and many other locations.

Visiting: daily from April to November from 10:00 to 22:00

Price: 6 euros (discounts available)

Upper part of Arkādijas parks

Location: Torņakalns

Height: 15 meters

In the upper part of one of the oldest parks in the city there are cozy observation platforms with benches. The height difference here is around 10 meters, which allows you to see interesting panoramas.

What to see: the winding water bodies of the park, green plantings, and from the neighboring bridge on Friča Brīvzemnieka Street you can get an unusual view of the Latvian National Library.

Riga TV Tower

Location: Zaķusala

Height: 97 meters

The largest TV tower in the Baltic States was built in 1986. With a maximum height of 368.5 meters, it is considered to be the 4th tallest building in Europe.

What to see: all of Riga, the city neighborhoods, and in good weather — the Gulf of Riga and even Sigulda.

Visiting: Attention! In 2019 the tower was closed for reconstruction. It is planned to reopen in 2024. Previously, from May 15 to September 30, the site was open from 10:00 to 20:00 (every day, including weekends and holidays); from October 1 to May 14, it was open from 10:00 to 17:00 (every day except Sunday).

Price: until closing in 2019 was €3.70 (there are concessions)

St. Peter’s Church

Place: Vecrīga

Height: 72 meters

This observation deck is located in one of the most significant churches in Latvia. With a total height of 123.5 meters, you can climb more than half of it. The high ticket price is offset by one of the best views of the city.

What to see: in good weather you can see the whole of Riga and its surroundings: the Gulf of Riga, Jūrmala, fields, forests and much more.

Visiting: from May 1 to August 31 from Tuesday to Saturday — 10:00–19:00, Sunday — 12:00–19:00; from September 1 to April 30 from Tuesday to Saturday — 10:00–18:00, Sunday — 12:00–18:00.

Tower in the park of the Ziemeļblāzma Palace of Culture

Location: Vecmīlgrāvis

Height: 35 meters

This brutalist concrete tower appeared as a result of the reconstruction of the park and the Palace of Culture in 2011–2013. The project was realized by the famous Latvian architect Juris Monvīds. Previously, there was a water tower in its place, which was also an observation tower.

What to see: the Riga cargo port, the mouth of the Daugava, the Vecmīlgrāvis district, Ķīšezers, pine forests and the impressive building of the Ziemeļblāzma Palace of Culture, built in 1913.

Visiting: daily from 10:00 to 20:00. The tower is closed in winter: usually from mid-October to April.

Skyline Bar

Location: Central District

Height: 85 meters

The calling card of this place is the glass elevator that offers the best views of the city. If you don’t really feel like sitting at the bar, you can just ride it for free. Just shhh, we didn’t tell you anything.

What to see: Nativity of Christ Cathedral, Freedom Monument, Vecrīga, National Library and many other sights

Gutenbergs terase

Place: Vecrīga

Height: 25 meters

One of the best restaurants in the country offers its visitors not only gastronomic pleasures, but also visual ones: excellent views of Vecrīga through panoramic windows, fireplace, candles, charming porter. Guests especially praise the food and wine selection, and the menu recommends ravioli, meat dishes and seafood.

Stage 22

Place: Vecrīga

Height: 25 meters

The restaurant and bar are located on the top floor of the five-star Grand Hotel Kempinski, but you can also get here from the street — there is a separate entrance. The menu is small but interesting: how do you like, for example, carbonated cucumber soup, truffle burger or spirulina noodles?
