Here we have collected a couple of unique places for hiding from the rush and noise of the city and getting closer to nature.
White dune of Saulkrasti
/ 42 km from Riga /
Historically this white Dune served as guidance for the local fishermen. Today this beautiful sandpit has lost most of its practical use but still serves as an incredible viewpoint at the sea. From white dune to the city center of Saulkrasti – a sunset trail has been created. It offers a lovely route for walking, short enough to see the wide beach, pine trees and sea in nature’s most beautiful – golden red sunset light.
Great Kemeri Bog Boardwalk
/ 47 km from Riga /
5 km long loop trail on a wooden bridge that leads through the Great Kemeri swamp. It’s best to go there around dawn because that’s when magical mist appears over the marsh. Thus making the already beautiful route full of flowers and birds even more magical.
Gauja National park in Sigulda
/ 53 km from Riga /
The Valley of Gauja here is considered to be one of the most beautiful places in Latvia. Rock and sand cliffs stretched along the banks of river Gauja. This is where you can find some waterfalls and interesting caves with old paintings in them.
Veczemju red rocks
/ 90 km from Riga /
On the coastline of Vidzeme the steep shore exposes rocks of red sandstone. Inside these cliffs there are small caves while long Moles next to them will allow you to go further in the sea and say hello to the waves and ships sailing in distance.
The rocky coastline of Kaltene
/ 113 km from Riga /
Beach in Kaltene village is covered in many boulders which are partially submerged during the tide. This results in an astonishing view which can only be found in a few places around Latvia.
