CAPITALICA PLANS €300M MIXED-USE QUARTER ON LIELIRBES IELA

Capitalica Residential acquires a 7.2h site in Pārdaugava to develop a quarter exceeding 100,000 m². Designed by Gensler and Vilnis Mičulis Architects, it will include residential buildings, commercial space, a kindergarten, and a health centre. Construction starts in Q2 2027.

RĪGA LAUNCHES SEVEN NEW NIGHT BUS ROUTES THIS WEEKEND

Starting 9 May, seven night bus routes operate in Rīga on Friday-to-Saturday and Saturday-to-Sunday nights until 27 September. Routes connect the centre with Teika, Jugla, Sarkandaugava, Daugavgrīva, Imanta, Zolitūde, Purvciems, Pļavnieki, Ķengarags, and Ziepniekkalns. Buses stop on request only.

RAIL BALTICA CLEARS 6.9 H NEAR RĪGA AIRPORT

Land clearing is complete in Mūkupurvs near Rīga Airport, preparing the site for a railway embankment and overpass over K. Ulmaņa gatve. The work is part of the Rail Baltica station project and will enable a future rail link between Rīga Airport and Rīgas Centrālā stacija. Earthworks begin shortly.

NEW PLAYGROUND OPENS IN MĀRUPĪTES MEŽAPARKS IN BIERIŅI

The first three phases of a €1.1 million improvement project at Mārupītes mežaparks are completed. The 15.5h park now features a children’s playground, restored culverts. Three further phases will add bridges, a skate zone, a dog training area, and viewing platforms.

RĪGA RECORDS HIGHEST CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY IN RECENT YEARS

Rīga commissioned 813 buildings in 2025 — up from 468 in 2022 — with total construction costs of €441.6 million, according to the Construction Information System. New builds dominated, accounting for 51.4% of investment; 89 buildings were also demolished.

RĪGA PORT SETS COURSE FOR RECORD CRUISE SEASON

The 2026 cruise season is already under way—103 scheduled ship calls — 21% more than in 2025 — and an expected 135,000 passengers, a new all-time record. To support growth, the port plans to complete akvatorija expansion works by 2027.

Lords LB Asset Management completes Sąvaržėlė, a 21,000 m² office building in Vilnius—the first Baltic project by British architecture studio RSHP. The building features a double facade, 346 underground parking spaces, and green areas.
