Jaunmoku Palace Complex Hotel

Jaunmoki Castle is a former hunting castle built in 1901 by the design of Wilhelm Ludwig Nikolai Bockslaff, an important architect in the history of Riga. Less than two kilometers from the Jurmala beach is home for one of the most unusual “hotels” in Latvia. They have rooms made inside of small cocoons with one transparent wall, hanging from the trees. There are beds inside the cocoons, but showers and other amenities are shared.

Birini Castle was built in 1860 by the famous Riga architect Friedrich Wilhelm Hess. Carved wooden staircases, tiled stoves, and ornamented halls have all been preserved since the 19th century. This historic baroque palace was recently renovated and turned into a luxury hotel with suites and a high class restaurant (it has been acknowledged as one of the best in Latvia for years now).
