Central market (Central tirgus)
The largest and most famous market in Riga and Latvia – The central market. It’s been up and running for almost 100 years, since 1930.
This market has found its home inside of enormous pavilions where airships were once stored. Back then, they were located far from the city. It was only after WW1 when these pavilions were brought into the city for purposes of creating a market.
The whole territory of Central Market is divided into several pavilions and inside each there are different products being sold. There’s one for vegetables, meat, fish, milk and restaurants each. To simplify, in this market you can find everything, from food to flowers and even dishes for the house.

Āgenskalns market (Āgenskalna tirgus)
The oldest market on the other side of river Daugava recently celebrated its grand reopening: During the time of 2018 to 2022 it was renovated in order to turn this market from an old and cold place into a modern cluster market, suitable for buying products as well as drinking champagne.
First floor of the market is dedicated to products from local farmers. Nothing fancy, just the usual – berries, fruits (even papaya and pitaya), vegetables, nuts, lots of greenery, milk, fish and meat.
From more interesting products, there’re various sorts of local beers, while you may also find churchkhela, Limoncello and Orancello by Roberto liqueurs. Grauda Spēks bakery, unusual spices from Spice House, sea delicacies offered by Zivju Māja and delicate flowers from Nakts Vijole.
Now if the first floor is for those who love to bargain with sellers then the second floor is more suited for people who enjoy spending time eating freshly made foods and drinking fancy cocktails. Our suggestions would be pizza place Vīnkalni and hachapuri experts at Hačapurija.
You may also try real Ukranian food at Borščs or local kebab at Ausmena Kebabs. For drinks there are two places – Marmalade un Vest.

Fairs at Kalnciema square
Each Saturday at the neighborhood of Kalnciems, surrounded by apple trees a small fair is being organized. It has become a tradition already, offering everything and even a little bit more. People come from all over the city to not only buy products but also participate in masterclasses and workshops that are created by local artisans.
This is a place to go looking for herbal teas, a wide variety of delicacies, designer items, jewelry and tableware.

Dizaina tirgus
The youngest market in Riga happens to also be one of the most intriguing ones here. Dizaina tirgus takes place once in a month at the grand palace of Fon Stricka.
Everything that’s up for sale here is new and gorgeous: clothing, decors, tableware and interior items.
A huge bonus is definitely the location and building itself. With well preserved old paintings, carvings and stucco on the walls.

Riga Flea Market
Riga Flea Market or in other words – rag fair is taking place every saturday in the neighborhood of Spīķeri. That is of course if the weather is good because these are open-air premises.
Back in the day there used to be warehouses for goods transported from East to West through Riga here. Seems like this place was always meant to be for trading so there must be something special about the atmosphere.
This is the right place for looking for antique candle holders, tea sets or postcards, rings and earrings from the previous century, still covered in old dust.
