Layouts and Amenities

The complex, which will be commissioned in autumn 2022, consists of three five-storey buildings with a total of 117 flats. 

Merks positions the project specifically as housing for young families, because the buildings consist of small apartments with ergonomic layouts and are offered at affordable prices.

The buildings offer 2-, 3- and 4-room flats ranging from 35 m² to 74 m² with full internal finishing. Residents on the ground floors have private green areas with views of Dreilinjupite or the forest, which can be accessed directly from the flat, while flats from the second to the fifth floor have balconies. All buildings are equipped with lifts leading also to the basement. 

The ground floors are equipped with common areas for storing bicycles and prams.

Infrastructure

Merks Mežpilsēta is located in one of the greenest neighbourhoods of Riga—Mežciemsa. The location of the complex allows residents to enjoy the meditative effect of the renovated and beautified Dreilinjupīte River or go for a leisurely walk in the nearby pine forest.

A new pedestrian bridge built over the Dreilinjupite River will allow faster access to nearby shopping centres and public transport stops. In the vicinity there are shopping and entertainment centers, restaurants, educational, sports and medical facilities. The Bikerniek and Jugl forests and the Shmerli forest are located within five minutes, where you can do sports or go for walks. There are plans to develop recreational facilities on the embankment by the river.

The territory of the Merks Mežpilsēta complex itself is planted with fruit trees, bushes and herbs. There are several playgrounds for children of different ages, as well as gazebos for neighbours to socialise and hold celebrations and other outdoor furniture.

The project includes street parking spaces that residents will be able to purchase, as well as public and private spaces for charging electric vehicles.

Energy Efficiency

All residential buildings have an energy class B.

Prices

The price of flats in the residential complex ranges from 1,750 to 1,950 euros per square metre. All flats are offered with full internal finishing. The price of each flat also includes a private utility room in the basement with an area of 4 m² to 9 m².

Project Team

Developer: Latvian construction company Merks, part of AS Merko Ehitus Group.

The architecture of the buildings was the responsibility of Projektu birojs Grietēns un Kagainis team led by Aivars Kagainis. The interiors were designed by Katerina Lavr Interiors. 

The main designers of the project are Merks and Projektu birojs Grietēns un Kagainis.

Awards

The Merks Mežpilsēta project was ranked among the top 3 residential projects in Latvia in 2022 and was also recognised in the “Sustainability in Architecture Construction Design in Baltics 2023” competition.
