Raiņa Nams

The house on Rainis Boulevard appeared in 1874, designed by architect Janis Friedrichs Baumanis. When the building is renovated, it will become a residential building: the historical details on the faсade will be preserved, while inside there will be modern apartments with laconic interiors.

The building on Rainis Boulevard is almost 150 years old. It is true that when it appeared, the boulevard was called Trondmanniniek, and in 1920 it was renamed in honor of the poet Jan Rainis.

The building was built in the vein of eclecticism. Architect Janis Friedrichs Baumanis used Classicist and Renaissance elements on the facade. Baumanis was Latvia’s first academically educated architect and designed more than 160 buildings in Riga, such as the main building of the University of Latvia, the district court building and the circus.

There are virtually no residential buildings on Rainis Boulevard: after the renovation, it will be possible to live in the center of Riga with a view of Old Town.

Layouts and Amenities

The renovated building includes 34 apartments. Consumers can choose one-, two- or three-bedroom apartments. Their areas range from 25 m² to 108 m².

All Raiņa Nams apartments will be offered with full interior finishing, but without furniture. The building is equipped with new communications and premium plumbing.

Infrastructure

The building has a unique location. A few steps away is the Latvian National Opera, within walking distance is the Latvian National Museum of Art. It takes seven minutes to walk to Mikhail Chekhov Riga Russian Theatre, founded in 1883.

Nearby are the University of Latvia, also designed by architect Baumanis, as well as the French, Georgian and German embassies.

The Old Town is visible from the windows and can be reached in three minutes, which means that the quiet narrow streets and restaurants are very close by.

Also next to the building is Riga’s second largest public park, located between Tērbatas, Elizabetes, Krīšiņa Barona and Merķeļa streets. The park, which occupies five hectares, has developed infrastructure for walks and leisure activities for adults and children.
